🌏 “Lost in Translation” – A common stumbling block when purchasing in China.

Translation1.png

When medium-sized companies buy in China, they quickly encounter two challenges:

1️⃣ Language barriers: Not everything can be solved with Google Translate - especially not in complex negotiations.

2️⃣ Cultural differences: Politeness, indirect communication and different business practices can easily lead to misunderstandings.

👉 The result?

❌ Misunderstood agreements.

❌ Problems with quality, delivery times and prices.

❌ A collaboration that stalls.

But that doesn't have to be the case.

it is the result of control

China offers impressive opportunities for medium-sized companies, but there is one critical point when it comes to sourcing: quality assurance.

Sourcing without surprises:

We check who really stands behind your products.

🚨 Who is the real manufacturer? 🚨

Many medium-sized companies face a problem when they buy in China: Who really produces my product?

👉 Middlemen often pose as manufacturers.

👉 Subcontractors are changed without you knowing.

👉 Transparency? None.

The result?

❌ Lack of control over quality and processes.

❌ Unexpected delays or hidden costs.

❌ Risk for your brand and your customers.

We make sure that doesn't happen.

As an experienced China sourcing company:

🔎 We identify the real manufacturer - not middlemen.

📑 We carry out supplier audits - so you know who you are really working with.

🔒 We create trust and transparency - from the factory to delivery.

💡 China sourcing needs clarity - no surprises.

Missverständnis

Real cases that happened

A Chinese supplier's sales team misunderstood a European client’s order of "100.000" units, interpreting it as "100"units due to differing numeric conventions—periods being used as thousands separators in Europe. This miscommunication almost led to a rejected quote and lost order.

In this case, the misunderstanding stems from different numeric conventions used in China and Europe. European clients often use a period (".") as a thousands separator, so "100.000" means 100,000 units. In contrast, in many English-speaking countries, a period is used as a decimal point, and commas are used as a thousands separator (e.g., 100,000). However, Chinese suppliers may interpret the period as a decimal point, assuming "100.000" means 100 units. To avoid such confusion, it's crucial for both parties to clarify the numeric formatting.

Yes, this misunderstanding highlights a form of business cultural differences. Different countries often use different numeric formats and communication standards, and failing to recognize these can lead to operational errors, such as misinterpreting the quantity of an order. This type of mistake is a reflection of broader challenges in cross-cultural business communication, where assumptions based on local conventions can create confusion. Understanding and adapting to these differences is key to smooth international business transactions.

Attention Suppliers

The GPSR regulation is approaching - are your product labels ready?

The EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), effective from December 13, 2024, replaces the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD) and imposes stricter safety and compliance standards on non-food consumer goods sold in the EU. It expands the definition of responsible parties, updates labeling requirements, and mandates the provision of detailed technical documentation. Chinese suppliers targeting the EU must ensure their products comply, appoint an EU representative, and update product labeling to avoid penalties. Failure to comply could result in market bans and recalls.

Commitment to Quality and Strategy

"A Professional Team Declines Price-Driven Collaboration"

Developing new customers is not easy, but when a customer does not align with the company's strategic goals, it is necessary to decline. Today, our team politely rejected an order request from a customer who was price-driven and wanted us to procure raw materials.

First, low prices cannot guarantee high quality. Low-cost purchasing often leads to compromises in materials and production, resulting in substandard quality. The customer's expectations may exceed what the product can deliver, leading to dissatisfaction and complaints.

Second, after-sales issues increase. Low-cost products come with higher quality risks, leading to more frequent after-sales problems. Handling returns and complaints adds to the company's operational costs.

Finally, it does not align with the company's long-term strategy. The company prefers to collaborate with customers who value quality and are willing to pay for it, fostering long-term, stable partnerships.
